The Crock-Pot SCVT650-PS 6-1/2-Quart Programmable Touch Screen Slow Cooker is one of Crock-Pots higher end models and with a higher price comes higher expectations. These seem to be being met with the model getting a 4* average from 94 reviews at the time of writing.
The essential removable crock and glass lid are both present and correct and while it doesn’t have a locking lid, it comes with silicone lid straps to keep the lid in place during transport. The verdict is out on whether these are a good thing, with some reporting that the lid is easier to clean without the locking hinge but at the risk of the lid being less secure in transport. We think that putting the cooker in a plastic bag for storage should be good enough.
The look and feel of this high-end model is excellent with the stainless steel looking great in the kitchen and easy to clean, as is the crock. The touch screen panel is suitably 21st century and easy to use although the programmable timer only goes from high/low to stay warm and can’t do a high to low to stay warm cycle. This doesn’t seem to have affected the quality of the meals people report they have made so you will need to judge whether it is an essential feature for you.
Overall, the Crock-Pot SCVT650-PS 6-1/2-Quart Programmable Touch Screen Slow Cooker performs as good as it looks. This large slow cooker has the capacity for parties and if the missing program is no issue, will be a stylish addition to any kitchen if it fits within your budget.
